I certainly can't speak for AD, but if the Lowthers didn't perform as expected or were assessed to be more trouble than they were worth then they were a mistake.
I've made a few mistakes with equipment over the almost sixty years that I've spent as an "audiophile". Nothing to get overwrought about. Just admit it and move on.
