Perhaps this has been discussed long ago so forgive my ignorance by opening up discussion on it again.
The critics are damning of Mutter's performance with this concerto, but maybe I'm an unintelligent Music Phillistine - I like it. Perhaps not being a musical performer or scholar means I'm more ignorant and unappreciative of Beethoven's intent.
I have a very large collection of albums on hard drive here but surprisingly few of this lovely concerto and do judge the Mutter performnce the best of those here. But of course there may be other interpretations that are "better"??? Music appreciation is such a personal and subjective experience that a "best" for me, performance of any work, means nix in the wide world of musical experiences, but .....
Not trying to be provocative here and stimulate rage at my bad taste, but I'll be interested to hear others comment.
