I built a pair out of the 20ga unshielded, using Kle Pure Harmony RCA's. I preferred the 20ga over the 16ga, but your mileage may vary. I think the finished cable punches way, way above its cost. All the texture, timbre and decay is there. I got this recommendation from another member, who built a pair using the copper Harmony and raved about them. I have no experience with the Switchcraft RCA's, which I know are popular.

I would allow for 150-200 hours breakin. I think that is mostly the RCA's, which are known for a long break-in.
