If you are talking about a classical wired with speaker cables from an amp versus an all wireless set-up, where the speakers receive the signal via RF transmission (whether it be digital or otherwise), and the transition to wireless requires an ADDITIONAL stage of ADC/DAC, then I think the answer is obvious.
The hardwired speakers win, because you can never get better with an entire added chain of ADC and DAC operations.

If the source is already in the digital domain for better or for worse, then wireless doesn't HAVE to incur huge sound quality losses, as long as it is not based on blue-tooth or some other format that does not really have the bandwidth to carry high quality digital transmissions.

Wi-fi based wireless has the theoretical capability to transmit high quality digital (at least 24 bit 96 kHz in my opinion), but all the current real world examples I have heard are compromised by the use of commercial grade components, as apposed to high performance audio components.

As of right now, there are no market available retro-fit systems that have any where near the sonic quality to be worth it.
Someone's proprietary wireless speaker system might do OK, I haven't heard all of those, the one's I have heard come very close to being sonically transparent, but still not inaudible, and a step down from hard wired speakers.
