Sanity check-twisting speaker wire together

All, I am running new speaker wire in my CAR. I am going to run Monster 14/4, thats four conductor each is 14gauge. I plan on twisting two conductors together,to create a pair of conductors at each end of the cable.
My assumptions in doing this are...
1) I get to an effective gauge of about 11.
2) This is a smart thing to do in a car. In that it will there are no negative effects that could be amplified by this approach.

BTW I dont car about personal views on Monster, I have been there and back with cables.
