Sounds like a bias issue. If you have a DMM, then perhaps a call to Paraound will give info on how to measure and maybe, if you are lucky, how to adjust the the bias, . More likely if the bias is off it means something isn't working right and the amp will need professional help. Personally I would just keep my friggin' fingers off the amplifier :).
