RE: the Tri amp you mention below, I have one but it is the previous model - uses 6SN7's instead of the small signal tubes. It is a very lovely sounding amp, especially good in the midrange, but has very solid bass as well. I've heard that the current lower priced models of Tri are OEM'ed and that Line Magnetic assembles them.
I also have a Line Magnetic 300B integrated that I also like very much. I would have a hard time choosing between the two. the LM seems to have a bit tighter bass and a bit more extended. I would say that mids are a bit sweeter in the Tri. the LM goes for 3K, so a very nice price.
I've heard the Cary 300B in my home and from my memory of it I would say that the two amps above are better - I bought a couple of Push-pull Cary amps that I thought were better than the 300B.
Woo also makes a 300B integrated, made in the USA that has had excellent reviews.
Regarding repairing your Wavelength amp, generally repairs of SET's shouldn't be all that hard or expensive unless it is the transformer(s) that is the problem. I've had a couple of repairs done on other SET's I own - cost has been between $100 to $800. SET's are not particularly complicated amps.
Regards.
