Well, I upgraded a similar vintage DAC to a Topping D90 and it's quite a bit better and will do 24/192 for my vinyl recordings and DSD if I ever had something in the format. You can use it with any streamer like a cheap RPi4 with USB or any other input. It's not R2R though. I do agree with hawkmoon that the tech changes, so I'm not for spending too much for DACs.
I haven't heard the Quciksilver stuff, but retubing made a huge difference for me for my old BAT.
