If you can't get a factory box, totally wrap the unit with as much bubble wrap as possible, then totally isolate it in the middle of the largest, strongest box you can find with foam and more bubble wrap. The bigger the box it will give you more space around the unit. I would go for at least 4 inches all around of packing material, not counting the wrapping already on the unit.
The large box will cost more to ship, but its worth it. This way it will be very isolated from outside abuse.
