I like the sound of the PF-R even more than the higher-end Premier 18LS. Both are CJ solid-state preamps. The ONLY thing that bugged me a little with the PF-R was the volume control pot via remote control. It was a bit touchy trying to get the volume just right as I would often overshoot or undershoot my ideal as most of the useful volume control range was within about 1/4 turn from fully CCW. But other than that, it was superb!
