If you can find a good pair of Altec 1568A 40 watt monoblocks, you will have one (two?) of the finest sounding, most reliable, and ugliest power amps ever built.

EL34 tubes and a simple, almost primitive circuit - and some of the finest Peerless output transformers ever put in an amplifier. Only the Citation II's have better ones.

Buy a pair, maybe around $1200 - $1400, hide them someplace, and delight in the music you'll hear.
