All of this seems to defy common sense. Even the "flywheel-less" HW-19 Mk III has a pretty massive platter. The whole point of having a lot of mass is to smooth out thost tiny speed variations, and yet the SDS does its thing . . . .Perhaps the added mass of your flywheel (i.e. added to the mass of the platter itself) makes the SDS less important; but the "ultimate" setup of a lot of VPI decks, including the "scoutmaster" which also uses a flywheel, includes an SDS.
So, I guess you just have to listen to be sure.
