this is a common misunderstanding.The SDS is a generator that has variable voltage and frequency. This allows AC syncronous motors to be run at speed at lower voltages than 120v by altering the voltage frequency to compensate. The rationale being that AC motors run queter and with far less vibration at lower voltages.
A TNT motor can run at reliably at speed with a 72 volt@53Hz feed from the SDS.Cheers,
