You might try it at a bit lower than the pre-set 84 volts to get the motor a smidge quieter. However, too low will cause motor-run instability.

I agree with your review (and thanks for using the ubiquitous KOB). My visual of the advantages of the SDS would be a graph with horizontal lines as the notes at any moment in time. Without the SDS, the width of the lines would be, say, 1/4". With SDS, the width would be 3/16". Everything seems to be tighter and more coherent, with a blacker background. It was noticeable to me the moment I installed it.

The SDS is commonly available used for 600.00/700.00, which somewhat improves the price/performance ratio. However, for me, even the standard retail is, if not a bargain, well worth the do-re-mi.

At this point, I wouldn't use an AC 60hz synchronous tt without the SDS, or it's equivalent.
