Several of our cats had long delicate hair, find enough to get under my contact lenses.
I've never had a problem of cat hair wrapping itself around a stylus. A few fine hairs will get picked up every once in a while but they're easily removed with a soft brush. Blu-Tak won't work because the stylus tip doesn't go deep enough into the putty.
The only think I can think of is, if you can remove the headshell with the cartridge mounted clean it at a desk or table with tweezers, under a strong light with magnification.
Brush your LPs before you play them, too.
