Any wire will work well. On a budget? How about CAT5 wire. A few feet is very cheap from Home Depot. Since you new switch box is passive I see no need for shielded wire either.

Wire "sound" is an audiophile theory and has no backing in traditional electrical engineering communities. Just open up any professional audio gear. The same gear that captures and records the music you listen too. What do you see in there? Surely not this "boutique" wire.

So if the certified electronics experts that not only design and build this gear but also the highly experienced users don't see the need for boutique wire, how does some audiophile with no electronics background know better?

Save your money and enjoy your extra inputs.

P.S. Have you considered how that old chassis will affect your sound? Hmmm that could be a major problem :) Yes some people believe that too!
