Thank you for the nice informative review!

I have many systems (Recording studio, Mastering facility) but for my HT system, that does get two channel usage, I have a pair of Boston CR-8's for the front. Driven by a unique (never seen another one) Technics receiver that was a bargin. Mind you, the Technics is NO NAD, Rotel, or even Denon...but this one has extreme power for a receiver. Three Years old, it is called a SACX-900H+. Rated at 100W X 5,( 4 Channels pro logic and a SUB amp with crossover settings) and has a special "button" for Cascaded amplification for 300X2 8 Ohms, or 470X2 at 4 ohms. needless to say, it dims the lights in the house on heavy bass. I do NOT use the sub in 2 channel mode..But I will cascade the amps from time to time.

I am also thinking of upgrading the CR-8's, I have planned on Building as well.

My CR-8's are a shade bass heavy at 45hZ. The clarity in the midrange is very surprising for a speaker at that cost. The tweeters are not "bright" like others reported, and to my ears at the audio shop I auditioned them at, they beat the Klipsch RB5 in accuracy, imaging, definition, and freedom from fatique.

Does the VR-M50's have slightly less bottom than the CR-8's or more?

Tighter imaging?

I litterally can crush the woofers on the CR-8's if too much dynamics at low frequency occurs. They were nice and tight at these levels for about 3 months, but then they progressively got looser. That is when the "extra" 45HZ started happening.

Boston said they would send me new woofers if I would like...but I feel the same thing would happen, so I declined.

Do you think the sound has changed on yours(CR-8 or VR-M50) this way?

I try to not bottom them out, but it happens some times...the curtains behind them will move 4 to 6 inches from all the wind coming from the ports. They use to be virtually Bottom out proof. They are also about 22 months old.

Thank you for listening to this, I am curious. This system is not my main system at all, but does get used for evaluation of projects, and the occasional movie we may rent.
