This response was so great, and had me laughing because it's just so, so true:
yes , all those 5" midbass drivers for banjo music and audio fans (and self promoting pimps pushing dreck on uneducated markets) so scared of their spouses they have to ask permision to bring speaker bigger than their p... into living rooms. My bet is 15" Altec 803A in K-horn for family oriented guys who still wear pants but are willing to compromise for the sake of domestic peace ( it goes without saying that proper bass bins are in order too) and 50hz straight horns for guys who are happily married (0.5%) and struggling singles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If we use a 50 hz straight horn/ or 1 or 2 @ 15" hi-eff drivers for mid-bass, what do we use for the REAL: DEEP BASS ?
(hint: one possibility is an infinite baffle housing 8x 15's, using drivers made specifically for that purpose)
Any other ideas (re:bass bins)from the pants wearing members are welcome !

p.s. since someone asked:
Mid bass range 50/60 Hz up to anywhere between 220-380 Hz depending on one's own tastes.
