Hi - I have the SR60s and I agree: They ARE uncomfortable. They do, however, sound GREAT! I should also mention two things. 1) that a small part on my headphones broke and Grado sent me a replacement piece for free! and 2) because of the open-can design of these headphones (SR80s too), my wife can hear them sitting 15ft away from me when I listen to rock music at a fairly decent level.I have to agree with your conclusion - there must be headphones that sound as amazing and are comfortable too. But then again - I have the SR60s for the past 6+ years and I haven't been able to replace them with another pair retailing for the same price.
So...as it goes...YMMV.
cheers, Chr3is
