Hola Jose,

"What intrigues me is the term "mechanically tuned". Do you mean, change all the possible screws inside the unit for brass screws."

"Mechanically tuned" simply means proper "tension" of each chassis or circuit board screw -- too loose is no good and neither is too tight. The screws do not have to be brass, but every component I have ever used, that the manufacturer used brass chassis screws or brass circuit board standoffs, sounded better. So, it is a relatively simple procedure to "mechanically tune" chassis, circuit board or transport screws. Tight plastic clasps (as well as shrink tubing, where possible) around wires which can be safely removed, should also be removed and this will also yield better sound. Everything in a component has a mechanical resonance and all you are trying to accomplish with "mechanical tuning" is for the component or part to successfully complete it's harmonic cycle of resonance -- this harmonic cycle completion is the same as a note struck on a live instrument being allowed to complete its natural decay time. If you cut the harmonic cycle "short", the sound will be thinnner and usually edgy. Bass notes will sound shortened, etc. So, it really does not require any special technical skill to tweak the chassis screws -- simply "crack" any tight screws, and retorque them, but not to tightly. But, do this with every screw in the chassis, inside and out, that can be reached with a screwdriver. Good to hear from you.

Jim
