In my experience, the least offensive of the Shure models are(in order): 1) V-15 V, 2) V-15 VxMR, 3) M97xE. These cartridges are not necessarily what I would consider "edgy", but they do exhibit the same plastic, artificial coloration that is common to all units from this manufacturer.
