RE: SME 309 good match for Gyro SE?

Posted by nameci on December 18, 2008 at 13:59:12:

SME arms, 309, IV,and V, works wonders with Michell Gyro/Orbe turntables. I read somewhere that Michell uses SME arms for tuning their tables. I have owned all three arms(and still own V and 309 on my Gyrodec) on my Gyrodec, Gyrodec SE, Orbe SE turntables. Over the years, 309's removable headshell won me over slight better sounding and easy of VTA adjustment of V for my everyday listening turntable. I own two extra headshell(with cartridges mounted on) and changing out the cartridge is a breeze with 309. 309 also gives you a slight Azimuth adjustment capability.

If your budget permits, replace the stock SME tonearm cable with better one. With better tonearm cable like Cardas, you are close to ~98% of V sound.
