I hate radio shack - but i will put on my fake mustache and buy the oil.
John - i am like you - and prefer other oils over the detergent type motor oils - however do you feel that these machine oils are designed to withstand the weight and pressure that tt bearings are prone to. My platter alone - is over 20 pounds - and the bearing is teflon sleeved.
Also - IMO - because machine oils are thinner - they offer less friction and theoretically better sound - that is of course if they are supplying enough lubrication.
