Unless you calibrate the scales, you're testing is flawed.
This can only be done through the use of a series of proper calibration weights within the range that you are trying to measure.
Through this you should be able to plot the scale reading versus actual weight and use the plot for determining actual weight.
Or you could just forget about it and set VTF by ear:)
