My ears have told me that the amount of compression used on this mix is more than the original. I'm transferring it to .wav and will check how much. To me it sounds like 3 dbs or so and I don't imagine any chopped tops that cause clipping, but i could be wrong. Again, this much is obvious and does not negate the excellent mix that was done and, what sounds to be, a wider frequency range and more engaging overall end product.

As a recording engineer I use compression, honestly, to create a mix that works you have to. The real issue is how it is used and how much. In this case, it sounds to have been used in a way that helps rather than hinders the sonic presentation. And,whether there is more compression on this release is way less of an issue compared tothe stellar mix that was done and how this is a big improvement over the original mix.
