For the most part the equipment will be ok. It gets as hot or hotter when it is turned on. There are a few exceptions, I had a cosmetic piece on the outside of a CD player that doesn't heat up running that did unglue, rubber parts like belts and surrounds will stiffen and dry out... And caps probably dry out at an accelerated rate, but I haven't noticed it to be significant.
Automotive electronics doesn't seem to fail here more than other places. A lot of that is in the cabin, which reaches higher temperatures than a garage. It is the UV of the sun that really does the damage here.
