Some bulbs are out, I knew that going in. Don't care. They will be fixed soon enough. Nice and clean pots. Nothing scratchy anywhere, no hums, just great sound.Played my St. Germaine Tourist (Blue Note) and Doug Mcloud Reference Recordings and they both sounded very very good!
Giving the Mcloud a second spin as I write this and I'm not hearing the weak bass the Yamaha speakers are supposed to have.
Considering I literally slammed this whole system together in 30 minutes just to hear it (the speakers are just plopped there next to the DefTechs) it sounds very good with a nice, wide and very good separation between instruments. Once I place the speakers, move stuff around etc I think the system will sound way better than I imagined.
I may eventually place the receiver where the center speaker is or re-adjust the shelves to put the xbox on the very bottom and put the center speaker up where the receiver is. I shoved the center speaker down there to have the receiver up on top so I could easily hook up and test it out etc, but the center's real location is on top.
I'll also probably put the Yamaha speaker stands on rubber casters so I can easily move them up and back for listening/stowing.
