Just to put in my 2 cents:
1)I have used ferrite clamps from Digikey($),Radio Shack($$),Audioquest($$$) and surplus stores($/2).If they fit properly they work well on power cords(I clamp one near each end) for source and control components. I don't hear an improvement with them on my power amps(these are plugged into a Monster HTS2000).
2)As for Quietlines,these work fine(but only use 0.3-1uf between Hot& Neutral); however,if you have basic electrical and soldering skills you can make your own(better)filters for very little $$. I use 3-8uf 'X2' film caps between Hot& Neutral (w/ a 100k .5W resistor across the cap to prevent a shock if should touch the prongs after unplugging the filter). This plugs in the same outlet/circuit as my components. I use a similar filter, with an added capacitor(.47-2uf + resistor) between Neutral and Ground, plugged into the other circuits in the house, especially near appliances. These are mounted in discarded "wall-wart" plug cases. I've never tried the "Shakti" products(not familiar with them). Do be careful! :-) -chas
