Amp Design Thoughts Solicited

I am designing a preamp and a power amp, while also learning some of the theory,and I would appreciate some advice. I would like to have a very simple design, with a low parts count and eliminate capacitors in the signal path. I would prefer tube. I hope to traverse most of the inevitable design compromises by buying the best parts - cost is not a big concern. I am also interested in cool-looking tubes.
I am going to use VAIC 302B outputs on the amp. I have decided on a push pull setup with interstage transformer, and I would like advice on preamp. I am drawn to the 27-type triode, particularly the blue Arcturi, and I'm curious about dht preamp tubes. The 6sn7 is on my shortlist, as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
