Re: Need DIY Speaker Enclosure Ideas/Plans....Help.

check the DIY loudspeaker pages or madisound.com.

I'd stick to a simple 2 way with "easy" drivers if I were a novice. Vifa makes good stuff. Try the M18 with the D27TG45 or the P17 with the D27TG45. The P 17 has a high damping surround that makes it easier but you loose definition.

If you are willing to go "over the top" try 2 Scan Speak 18W8545 or 8546 with their 2905-9900 tweeter or 4 Seas 5" Magnesium cone woofers with 1 Focal T120 tweeter. Scan Speak would be 91db, SEAS-Focal would be 93db. The SEAS and Focal need control (read as complex XO) but are very very detailed.

Other nice tweeter is the Morel MDT33 and Dynaudio D260.

Other nice woofers are Dynaudio 15W75, 20W75 for midbass, for Bass only Focal 8K415 or 8K516. The 516J is a TL version if you are into TL.

Alternately you can try a kit. I've built the Gemini but the XO needed changing. And you can supplement the kit with a SUB. 2 10"-12" per channel.

Vifa and Peeless make nice cheap 10" woofers.

NHT's woofers (from Eminence are also good value but I found them a bit slow).

Happy New Year!
