Superballs!!!

Posted by tianguis on November 27, 2002 at 15:02:10:

Based on a post by Mark Gdovin (link below) I bought a bunch on eBay and gottem today. Couldn't keep my 50 pound amp from rolling all over the place with four underneath. Ran down to my corner O-ring dealer and bought a bunch of 25 mm. X 2 mm. o-rings. Stuck 'em under two of the balls (I'm using six, now) and my amp shimmies like a hula dancer, but doesn't go anywhere. If two of 'em can't move, the others can't, either.
Sound? Reduction of hash , bigger sound stage, better detail. I'd already installed Herbie's Halo dampers on all the tubes but my rack must ring like a bell.
I then put 4 under my DAC, resulting in a reduction of sibilance on some CD's. Then, four under each of my Hammer 12's, which sit on a New Yawk City suspended wood floor: tighter bass, better clarity. Lots cheaper than most devices and seem to be more effective than Vibrapods, which I've messed with under the same components.

Regards,
Larry Welsh
