Re: Spikes and carpet

Just my .02 but I found an immediate improvement when I coupled my speakers with aluminum spikes I made on a lathe. HOWEVER, with my previous system, I decoupled the cabinets using milk crates with pads underneath them. While this was very rudimentary (a high school tweak) It helped make the bass a bit more articulate, but lowered the overall bass output. My current speakers are on spikes into concrete, and I find them to be quite articulate, and the bass is decent. to see about isolation, try out the milk crates (if your footprint allows)...if you like the direction the tweek takes you, go for those sexy vibrapods, or rubber seats for your spikes.
