RE: How much effect is an audiophile wall receptacle likely to have on a sub?

Posted by Gonzalo on February 24, 2012 at 16:36:22:

Hi Japesgalore, in reality and with all due respect for the opinions of all posters here I would just comment the following.
Since yuor sub most likely has a beefy power supply, you need to make sure you get an outlet that has good spring properties and a very good capture mechanisn any other quality will be overrated and non important, if you would be talking about a source components especially a digital one or an amplifier for teh whole audio spectrum then the answer will be yes!! absolutely!! you have different flavors in FIM, Furutech, Oyaide WBT, and many others.
you will be better serve by voicing the AC outlet based on teh tendencies of your system and your personal tastes.
Example, if system tends to lean or bright then avoid FIMM, FURUTECH, PS AUDIO, Shunyata, etc. etc.
as sometimes they tend to exantuate soem of those qualities.
then use something like a WBT, perhaps gold plated Oyaide, and so on . .
as far a sub in concerned it will handle only the frequency further dow betteen 14 to 100 Hz dependin on the sub, your room acoustics, your main speaker capability, etc. etc. don't waste yuor $.
now if your apartment is yours and not a rental I would seriously think about investing in some good serous copper cable right after the utility company meter and on down into every outlet.

if you have aluminium cable into TV sets and enjoy this particular effect by all means leave it in but the audio gear will show a tremendous improvement just by doing so, and don't sweat the subwoofer.
my small contribution.
I hope this helps a little.
don't mean to contradict any previous comments but in reality speak form experience and work done through the years.
Enjoy the music;

G.
