Harmonic Recovery Devices?

Has anyone home built this type of device? Im speaking about units that are placed between preamp and amp, and or between amp and speaker. They are supposed to restore the harmonic structure, improve depth,etc. I know that one uses two coils in a mutual conducting layout.
