several observations

for a system it is better to divide and conquer.

I find it best to isolate the digital/video components from the rest of the chain. Keep the analog separate, keep the components with motors separate (TT, cassette decks), and make sure your isolation tranny has enough capacity. I keep repeating this and my experience has borne it out also: PS Audio way back in the 80's, pointed out that an isolation transformer needs to have 5 times the current capacity of the stady state draw or dynamics will suffer. A large isolation transformer is very heavy: my 8.3 amp versions weigh at least 40 pounds. If you can pick it up with one hand, it won't be adequate (unless you are like Arnold in his prime).

Ultimately in my system I had individual PLC conditioning for every component in my system, and they varied according to the application. For amplifiers, only the Shunyata seemed to work without squashing dynamics. For a CD player, I needed much higher amounts of filtering, but thankfully the current draw was relatively small.
