Materials for use in a X-over

I am refurbishing a pair of 70’s – 80’s era mid-fi speakers (Ohm L’s). I plan on replacing the cross-overs with something homemade (this will be my 1st X-over project). The original crossovers were glued to a paper-product board which also had the speaker terminals mounted to it. I will be using modestly priced Jantzen capacitors and will probably end up mounting the cross-over and speaker terminals on a piece of wood similar to the original arrangement. But I do have a couple of questions about materials for use in cabinets and for mounting caps.
Does anybody have a preference for adhesive when attaching the capacitors and resistors? Is a 2 part epoxy OK?
Parts Express sells an aluminum binding post plate. If I do end up doing a separate cup and crossover board, is aluminum or metal in general OK for use in a speaker cabinet?
