I have built a rack where the shelves are suspended from above rather than supported from below.
In simple terms threaded bolts are fitted to the top of the rack and the shelves hung on them.
Although there is still a rigid connection through the structure, there does seem to be a difference in the performance over my previous rack.
This is a prototype that I would like to get in production but it will take a while to get things right.
The whole suspended part of the rack is relatively easy to move horizontally, but very rigid vertically.
