Question

Posted by Jon Risch on March 21, 2005 at 10:20:44:

What exactly do you mean by a "duct board prism"?

If you mean a simple construction of stiff duct insulation, or something like ceiling tiles, then this will not perform very well at all, providing probably less than 20-30% of the absorption of a full blown DIY bass trap.

A set of fiberglass bags wrapped up with polyester batting, can be as much as 80% of the effectiveness of a DIY bass trap, if you use say, three 15" wide rolls stacked on end, in each corner.

A DIY bass trap can equal or exceed the absorption of one of the commercial products, depending on which one we are talking about.
