Again on a good quality sub with a cast metal basket on the driver - no.
On cheaper subs with a stamped metal basket - yes.
I did it to a 10" stamped meatal basket sub and it did tighten things up. I did finally sell that sub and replaced it with a better one. Now I would buy a better quality to start with.
