Dear Paul F: The Svet 6550 WC has been improved with gold plated grid windings to reduce secondary emmission fro the grid, which can cause bias unsability. I think the screen grid also is coated with carbon for improved heat dissipation. I don;t know anything about the "Svet 6550C" The above isn't official; its what I have read about.....I would contact Svetlana to be sure. Take care ..Joe aka the "Beam Tube"
