RE: PSVANE KT120

Posted by Mendel on April 18, 2017 at 11:09:00:

I was the one who posted my experience with the Psvane KT120s. Just for the record, I did not go back to Tungsol KT120s. That is a very average sounding tube in my Rogue and I do not use them.
I agree with Nunki, the PentaLabs KT88SC (now know as the Prefered Series KT88 available from thetubestore.com) is a much better sounding tube.
Currently using EI KT90 type one (red VTL logo) and these are excellent sounding tubes. The Gold Lion KT66 also works well in the Rogue (have about about 350 hours on them so far no problems)I intend to soon try (again) the Gold Lion KT88 reissues-the first try years ago did not go too well.
I like the sound of all the fancy (re expensive) Treasure and Pisvane Kt88s and KT120s, they just don't seem to be able to operate reliably in my Rogue amp. Maybe it is the high plate voltage Rogue uses.
