RE: Any Current Production 12xx7 Tubes Worth Buying Yet?

Quality NOS 12AX7s for $10-15 each? No way Jose! You'll pay more than that for inferior Philips JAN. :>(
Talk to AA sponsor Jim McShane. He may have phono grade Sovtek 12AX7LPS stock in his bins. The 'LPS is clean and quiet, which makes it good for phono sections. New Sensor's "reissue" Mullard and TungSol 12AX7s offer, respectively, some mid-range accent or NJ "chime".
While JJ's Octal production is highly suspect, a number of JJ's Noval (9 pin mini) tubes are good. SY (NO fool he) over at DIY Audio has a great liking for JJ's 12AT7. Posts favorable to JJ's ECC803S can be found here at AA.
I can't comment on current production 12AU7s. FWIW, I'd be looking for NOS RCA 5963s. However, the 'U7 is non-linear. If the requisite doubled heater current is available, drop 12BH7s (either NOS or current production) into those sockets.
