Gold Lion opinions

Posted by ElWoodrow on December 11, 2014 at 12:23:41:

I recently purchased the Gold Lion 300B as a back up for my JJ and Shuguang Treasure tubes. I plugged them in of course, to make sure they work and not let them sit beyond the return/exchange period. Hmm. This is a pretty damn good 300b. It is fairly priced and a nice alternative to more costly 300Bs.

I next added some KT77s to the driver stage in place of a pair of Shuguang black bottle 6Ca7s. Now this is an improvement. Punchier, fuller, better extremes! This make a pretty big difference for the better. Today I swapped out my too soft Mullard 12AX7s from the pre stage for some gold pin Gold Lions. Again, it was better. I am going to switch out the rectifiers for Gold Lions next week.

In my experience the Gold Lions seem like a very good option for better performing new production tubes at a fair price. In my amp, they are better than the top of the line Psvane stuff and a third cheaper.

And these aren't even broken in yet.
