If you are talking tube guitar amps, pretty big difference. Noticeable in those amps with GAIN and MASTER (or main volume) control.

I like a balance of gain stage and output stage OD. Or amps that have a single volume control. So, I need to have small SE amps to practice in the house, to avoid domestic violence and police involvement.
