That is the biggest problem

I really haven't heard a good quad of Mullard EL34 in prolly 15+ years. I redid a Matchless Cheiftain, with one of Kevin Deal's really strong, quiet pair of EL34, about 12 years ago, now. The cost then, was very $$$. The tone was way better than any pair of 1990's made Svetlana (=C=) or JJ E34L.

Since then, I can't even find a good sounding, matched pair of NOS Mullards. Most seem suspect at best, regardless of cost. I think that is one of the big issues with any "NOS" Mullards these days. Most aren't very good. Not compared to one that were around 15-20 years ago.
