Do keep in mind, that I have their siblings-Sylvania VT229s(6SL7s) in my moth amp, which makes it slightly on the analytical side of life. Adding VT-231s to my preamp may just be too much of the same (similar) personality. Thats why i say the VT-231s *might* make adaquate drivers. That said,even tho the hytron 5692s aren't perfect,I do always seem to come back to them, and I've tried probably about 10-12 different 6SN7s. also note the 50's versions of the hytrons aren't nearly as good as the 60's.
