I like the Sovtek KT88 because they are cheap and powerfull.
Currently I'm running them at 670V triode connected!! In this mode they deliver 50Watt, wire them as pentode and the power increases to 100Watt. The far to expensive Tung-Sol 6550's I have tried didn't perform any better in this amp.
And now you want to know how long they last.... well I don't know yet I have been (ab)using them for only a year now. You might have guessed it's a guitar amplifier.

I check the bias regularly and I only had to adjust it when I installed the KT88's and a after about 20 hours (not continuous) of use. After that the bias has been rock solid.
