RE: Any Russian sub's for the 6GE5 or 6HB5?

Mike,

I spoke with the other Mike yesterday about the compactron sockets. He told me that he does not use any special brand/make of socket, but what he does do when replacing sockets on the servos is to remove the pin contacts for all unused pins from the sockets. He then applies something he called corona dope to the underside of the socket to further help reduce the opportunity for arcing. He also told me that he takes pains in assuring that all the final solder connections are as clean as can be, and are physically separated as much as possible - again further reducing the opportunity for arcing. It appears to work in that I have not had a incident of arcing since the sockets were replaced.

Hope this helps you.

Mike
