RE: 6CA7 and KT-77

The GL KT77 reissue is a very nice sounding tube for an EL34 based tube. These are a few of my EL34 collection I have compared them to and you will see Mullard XF1s on top, just below to the right are Amperex double D getters, over to left you will see the metal base Phillips, below that are XF2 dual halos, and the bottom you will see the reissue KT77s.
In all honesty, the RI KT77s beat everyone of those tubes on the extremes and the midrange is very close to the metal base phillips once they are broken in.
The reason the KT77 beats these other tubes is because the KT77 is more acclimated to hifi application. The mids on the XF1 and XF2s are decent but, they have a sort of mushy presentation in comparison to the KT77 RI.
I did hear the Shuggie 6CA7 and it reminds me of the old GE fat bottle with a bit more snap. They both do different things well but overall, both tubes are very desirable AFAIC.I am speaking of the KT77 RI and the Shuggie.
