6H6N or other tube as LTP in Fender Twin Reverb

Posted by Stewen on March 9, 2012 at 15:09:37:

Hallo ! Would like to change the 12AT7 in my Twin reverb to a better tube !
Have some russian 6H6N . They measure very good and balanced internal triodes . But gain is about 20 ! Too low ? Any other tube with low internal resistance and better gain , 40 or more ? What about E80CC ?
I want good drive and low dist. for the quad of output-tubes , now 7581A´s.
I have now a Morgan jones type CCS with two transistors instead of that
22 K tailresistor . Thanks for some advice . Stewen
